Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration

Final thirty day period the Marinette County Board of supervisors accepted contributing $43,900 to the Metropolis of Marinette toward the buy of a new 24 ft research and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be equipped to use the airboat. Even so, at yesterday’s County Board meeting a motion was introduced forth by Supervisor Allen to reconsider motion taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the Metropolis of Marinette for order of the Airboat. Due to the fact the Town of Marinette has lately allocated $500 per personnel for COVID-19 vaccinations using ARPA resources when they could have employed their ARPA resources in direction of the funding of the airboat as a substitute of inquiring the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre states, “the Town of Marinette acquired $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”

Supervisor Ken Keller says, “there is a rationale why the metropolis is seeking for participation in the purchasing of the airboat.”

Following a prolonged dialogue, the board voted, and it came in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor.  The envisioned shipping and delivery date of the airboat is mid-January.
